A slightly larger entry of cows, bullocks and heifers went under the hammer at Kilrush Mart on Wednesday (November 25th).
That is according to a spokesperson who noted that mostly dairy-type cull cows were on offer. “Trade as strong as last week for all categories with 100% clearance.”

Kilrush Mart cattle prices last week
A slightly smaller entry went under the hammer at last week’s sale, according to the spokesperson.
They reported that trade “held well overall” with “strong farmer demand”. The sale attracted a mix of both traditional and continental breeds.
Better-quality-type Friesian cows made up to €1.24/kg, while poorer-types made just over €1.00/kg. Heifers generally ranged from €2.00/kg upwards, with just over €1.80/kg recorded for traditional-types.
On the bullock end, again traditional-types hovered around the €1.70-€1.80/kg mark with close to €2.50/kg for continentals.
