Male (21) killed in tractor accident

A tractor accident has claimed the life of a 21-year-old male in Northern Ireland.

The accident occurred on the Gobbins Roads near Islandmagee, Co Antrim, just after midday yesterday (September 15th, 2021)

Police Service of Northern Ireland, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, NI Air Ambulance and Northern Ireland Ambulance (NIAS) attended the scene of the incident, where the male passed away.

In a statement, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Police attended a report of a sudden death of a man in his 20s, in the Gobbins Road area of Islandmagee, shortly before 12.25 pm today, Wednesday, September 15th.”

“The death is not being treated as suspicious. Police have advised the Health and Safety Executive and will provide assistance with their investigation.”

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive said: “HSENI is making enquiries into an incident which took place in the Islandmagee area earlier today.”

“We are working to establish the facts surrounding the incident.”

A NIAS spokesperson further said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 12:16 on Wednesday, September 15th, following reports of an incident on the Gobbins Road area, Larne.”

“NIAS despatched the charity air ambulance and two rapid response paramedics to the incident. No one was taken from the scene.”

Bradley Beck

The young man has been named locally as Bradley Beck.

Friends and family members have taken to social media to pay tribute to the young farmer.

One described him as a “true gentleman, taken from us far too soon”. “We will always remember the big smile you never had off your face.”

Another said: “Such a happy, pleasant young lad with his whole life in front of him. Anytime I was in his company, he was the life and soul of the party. [This] just shows you how precious life is.”

Another described him as a “true character” and also said, “he was the life of the party”.
