Dry cows are top of the town in Headford with highs of €2,560

Headford Co-Op Livestock Mart – Cattle Prices – 22-04-2023

A spokesperson for Headford Mart reported that “a large entry of cattle met with steady prices” at Saturday’s sale, on April 22^nd, 2023, which saw high activity from ‘grass’ buyers and a 96% clearance rate across all rings, writes farming journalist, Catherina Cunnane.

In the bullock ring, prices soared to €2,100, while heifers topped out at €2,310, weanling bulls soared to €1,500, and dry cows topped out at €2,560 at the Galway-based mart’s most recent sale.

Heifer prices:

• 715 kg – LMX – €2310 – €3.23/kg;
• 635 kg – LMX – €1850 – €2.91/kg;
• 635 kg – LM   – €2000 – €3.15/kg;
• 575 kg – AAX – €1660 – €2.79/kg;
• 520 kg – HEX – €1200 – €2.31/kg;
• 415 kg – LMX – €1500 – €3.61/kg;
• 535 kg – CHX – €1650 – €3.08/kg;

Cattle sale on 01-04-2023 

“A smashing sale with top tier prices and a 96% clearance rate,” is how a spokesperson for Headford Co-Op Mart summarised proceedings at its most recent general cattle sale on Saturday, April 1^st, 2023.

Bullocks reached €1,860, while heifers topped out at €2,180 and dry cows sold to €1,790.
