Farming News/Mart Reports on That’s Farming – Ennis Mart – Cattle Prices – 22-08-2023
According to a spokesperson for Ennis Mart, its annual weanling show and sale was held on Thursday, August 22nd, with over 700 on offer, and a 95% clearance across the board.
They noted that farmers and feeders drove demand in the heifer ring, which attracted some breeding types that peaked at €5.71/kg.
Meanwhile, they reported that feeders and shippers drove demand in the bull ring with highs of €4.41/kg.
Weanling bulls in the 300-400kg category were “very sought after” and averaged €3.20/kg at Tuesday’s sale.
Elsewhere, the spokesperson noted an increased offering of runners, with bulls to €930 and heifers to €690.
A small entry of calves topped out at €525 for a 2-month-old LMX heifer, while a small entry of sucklers made from €1,250 to €2,180.
The mart’s autumn-born weanling show and sale was judged by Aidan Mulligan, of Mulligan Heifer Farm in Co Mayo.
