Trade ‘easier all around’ in Ennis as factory quotes & weather impact confidence

According to a spokesperson for Ennis Mart, just under 800 entries crossed the scales at its general cattle sale on Thursday, August 3^rd, 2023, writes farming journalist, Catherina Cunnane.

The spokesperson noted that “trade was easier all around as factory quotes and weather conditions are definitely having an impact on confidence”.

“The lighter, plainer type of young stock have taken the biggest hit,” the spokesperson added.

Again, a large entry of aged bulls, with many of them from dairy herds, averaged €2.01/kg with a top call of €2,480 recorded for a Charolais, which crossed the scales at 1,230kgs.
