Farming News/Mart Reports on That’s Farming: Dowra Mart – Sheep Prices – 11-08-2023
According to a spokesperson for Dowra Mart, a large entry of just over 1,700 lots came under the hammer at last Friday’s (August 11th, 2023), sheep sale.
The spokesperson reported that fat lambs peaked at €143/head, while forward store lambs pushed to €130, store lambs hit €127 and hogget ewes changed hands for up to €200.

- 3 Weighing 50kg @ €143;
- 16 Weighing 48.5kg @€142.50;
- 8 Weighing 49kg @ €142;
- 13 Weighing 50kg @ €142;

- 1 Weighing 48kg @ €141;
- 10 Weighing 47kg @ €141;
- 13 Weighing 46kg @ €140;
- 7 Weighing 47.5kg @ €139.50;
- 13 Weighing 48kg @ €138;
- 25 Weighing 46kg @ €137.50;
- 14 Weighing 46kg @ €137.50;
- 7 Weighing 45.2kg @ €135.50.
Forward store lambs:
- 16 Weighing 42kg @ €130.50;
- 31 Weighing 43.5kg @ €130;
- 105 Weighing 42kg @ €122.50;
- 12 Weighing 37kg @ €115;
- 12 Weighing 39kg @ €111.
Store lambs:
- 11 Weighing 33kg @ €127;
- 11 Weighing 33kg @ €118;

Hogget ewes:
- 10 Hogget Ewes @ €200 each;
- 15 Brockie Hogget Ewes @ €200 each;
- 10 Hogget Ewes @ €196 each;
- 18 Brockie Hogget Ewes @ €180 each.
Last Saturday’s cattle prices
According to a spokesperson for Dowra Mart, similar to the previous week, some 300 cattle changed hands at its general weekly sale on Saturday, August 12th, 2023.
They noted that dry cows topped out at €2240 for a CHX cow weighing 840kg, while bull weanlings topped at €1,570, stock bulls sold to €1,780, heifer weanlings peaked at €1,255 and heifers climbed to €2,000.
