Third processor announces milk price with 2c/L cut

June 2023 Milk Prices: Announcement from Dairygold

Dairygold, has this afternoon (Tuesday, July 18th, 2023), become the third processor to announce its June 2023 milk price.

In a statement to www.thatsfarming.com, a spokesperson for the processor confirmed that the June quoted milk price is back by 2c/L to 38c/L, based on standard constituents of 3.3% Protein and 3.6% butterfat, inclusive of sustainability and quality bonuses and VAT.

The June milk price equates to an average June farm gate milk price of 40.9cpl, based on average June milk solids, achieved by Dairygold milk suppliers.

The quoted milk price for June based on EU Standard constituents of 3.4% protein and 4.2% butterfat is 41.5pl.

A Company spokesperson, in the statement commented:

“Global dairy markets have weakened significantly in the last month and this has reduced the returns on milk.”

“This reduction is driven by reduced demand across all product categories.”
“The Dairygold board will continue to monitor markets closely and review milk price on a month-by-month basis,” the spokesperson concluded.

Milk prices: Kerry Group and Lakeland Dairies

This afternoon’s announcement follows those from Kerry Group and Lakeland Dairies.

On Tuesday, July 11th, 2023, Lakeland Dairies became the first milk processor to set its price for June 2023 supplies.

The price of 37.35c/litre (3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein) will be paid for June milk in the Republic of Ireland.

This price is unchanged from the May price, as reported by us in this news article.

In Northern Ireland, Lakeland Dairies has held the base price of milk for June at 30 p/litre.

Meanwhile, Kerry Group become the second processor to set its June 2023 milk supplies, following Lakeland Dairies’ announcement last week.

The processor, in a statement to www.thatsfarming.com, confirmed that its base price for June milk supplies is 37c/L (Vat Inc) at 3.30% Prot/3.60% Bfat and 40.61 cent per litre (Vat Inc) at EU Standard Constituents 3.40% Prot/4.20% Bfat.

Based on Kerry’s average milk solids for June, the milk price return inclusive of VAT and bonuses is 39.01 cent per litre.
