Overall champion sells for €2,240 or €8.00/kg in Ballinrobe Mart

Farming News/ Mart Reports on That’s Farming – Aurivo Ballinrobe Mart – 18-09-2023

According to Teresa Gibsey, assistant manager of Aurivo Ballinrobe Mart, its opening annual weanling show and sale attracted “a serious entry of top-quality weanlings”.

Trade was “very lively” with buyers nationwide and highs of €8.00 per kg for weanling heifers, while weanling bulls peaked at €4.77 per kg.

According to Gibsey, the average for weanling bulls on the day was €3.39/kg, up over 0.40 cent a kilo on last year’s show day, while heifers levelled at €3.42/kg across the board.

The pre-sale show was judged by Niall and Simone Maguire of Rockvalley Pedigrees and Commercials Herd, with ten classes offering €1,150 in prize money.
