‘A good few buyers looking for stock’ at Loughrea

Lambs prices were slightly easier than the previous week at Loughrea Mart’s most recent sale, according to a spokesperson.

They said that despite this, returns were “much better” than the corresponding period last year with a top call of €116 recorded for entries weighing 49.5kg.

Sample prices:

  • 38kg – €89;
  • 42.5kg – €99;
  • 43kgs – €102;
  • 45kgs – €112;
  • 48kg – €115;
  • 49.5kg – €118;
  • 50kgs – €115.

Ewe lambs:

  • 43kgs – €110;
  • 46.5kg – €116.

Other categories:

  • Cull ewes – €55-€116.

Cattle

“Prices have improved for all types of cattle with a good few buyers looking for stock.”

Bullocks:

  • 1 LMX – 380kg – €980;
  • 1 LMX – 400kg – €1,000;
  • 1 LMX – 430kg – €1,115;
  • 1 CHX – 455kg – €1,135;
  • 1 AAX – 550kg – €1,120;
  • 1 LMX – 565kg – €1,290.

Heifers:

  • 1 LMX – 425kg – €970;
  • 1 LMX – 445kg – €1,075;
  • 1 LMX – 545kg – €1,090;
  • 1 CHX – 590kg – €1,220;
  • 1 LMX – 580kg – €1,365;
  • 1 CHX – 610kg – €1,300.

Cull cows:

  • 1 LMX – 550kg – €965;
  • 1 SIX – 615kg – €1,085;
  • 1 CHX – 745kg – €1,340;
  • 1 SIX – 755kg – €1,050;
  • 1 CHX – 780kg – €1,380.
