Paddy-Joe Lynch, an 82-year-old retired farmer and builder, has fully recovered from Covid-19.
The Boyle, Co. Roscommon native was collecting turf on a nearby bog two weeks ago when he experienced sharp chest pains; he was hospitalised and tested positive for coronavirus.
Lynch, who has several underlying health issues, spent ten days at Sligo University Hospital, where he made a full recovery.
Speaking to RTÉ News, he said: “I was delighted when the doctor said she had no hesitation in sending me home, that I made a great recovery. I tell ya, that was better than winning the lotto.”
The father-of-six, grandfather-of-seven and great grandfather-of-three said that elderly people should remain as positive in their outlook during the present crisis.
