In a statement, a spokesperson for Dorset Police Rural Crime Team, said: “We are asking anyone who was driving in the area at that time to review any dashcam footage and get in contact if they have any information which may assist us.”

“Likewise, if anyone witnessed any vehicles or persons acting suspiciously in the area, please get in contact.”

If you have information, email – [email protected] – quoting reference number: 55200125905.

Police described this as “appalling crime” and have asked members of the public to share their social media post to help them spread the reach of the appeal.

Vehicle possibly linked to poaching

Meanwhile, last night (Sunday, August 23rd), at approximately 1am, a “muddy” dark blue Suzuki Vitara, with no number plate, made off from Hampshire officers doing enhanced rural patrols in the SixPenny Handley area.

The vehicle had been travelling from the Wilton direction and is possibly linked to poaching in the area, according to police.

“If you see poaching in progress, please dial 999. If you have suspicions of a vehicle, please dial 101 so that officers in the area can be made aware.”
