VIDEO: Highland bull sets new record after selling for 23,000gns

Eoin Mhor 17th of Mottistone, a Highland bull, set a new breed record when the hammer fell at 23,000gns at Michael Poland’s dispersal sale.

The five-year-old is a son of Eoin Mhor 8th of Mottistone and out of Solas Molach 5th of Mottistone.

The fold’s current and future breeding stock were dispersed at United Auctions, Stirling on Saturday (September 12th) last.

Speaking ahead of the dispersal sale, Poland, said: “To disperse was a sad decision to make but for me, it is the right one. The reason is I will be 83-years-old, and I know I am slowing down and increasingly feel I am losing my touch. I can no longer give my lovely cattle the attention they deserve.”

“As to be expected from our consistent show record and the Highland Cattle Society best large fold award in 2019, we will be selling some lovely cattle which should go on to breed well for new owners.” added Poland, who began farming Highland cattle in 1997 and bred foxhounds and racehorses prior to this.
