A Finn ewe named ‘Half-Ear’ gave birth to seven lambs on Dover Farm in Canada last month. The septuplets including 5 ram lambs and 2 ewe lambs arrived on April, 25th, 2018.
Speaking to That’s Farming earlier this week, farmer Veronica Verweij said:
“The smallest lamb, a ram, who was only 1.25 Kg at birth, died when he was one-week old. The rest of the lambs are doing well; we left three with the ewe and the rest are on the bottle.”
Veronica highlighted that the Finn breed is renowned for its high incidence of multiple births – they are known to give birth to triplets; quads and quintuplet.
“Of 20, 2-year-old or older ewes we have had 64 lambs, including the 1 litter of 7, 2 litters of 5 and 4 litters of 4,” Veronica revealed.
