Just over 800 entries went under the hammer at Ennis Mart on Monday, July 20th, according to a spokesperson.

“The biggest sale in over 20 years with just over 800 on offer. Again, large entries of store lambs and lambs in the 40kg to 45kg bracket.”

“Not many heavy butcher lambs available; a large increase in cull ewe numbers and some great fleshed ewes and these made €70 to €125.”

Lambs averaged €2.39/kg which is running approximately 30c/kg ahead of last year, the spokesperson added. “Store lambs were a strong trade but not quite as dear as last week.”
