‘Plain-types showed a slight reduction with fewer customers’

Some 800 entries went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart’s cattle sale on Thursday, January 28^th, according to George Candler.

The mart’s auctioneer reported a 98% clearance, due to a tougher trade for plainer-type animals.

“Quality bullocks and heifers are selling well with the bulk of continentals in this category selling from €1.90-€2.40/kg, with exceptional lots to €2.80/kg.

“Aberdeen-Angus and Hereford bullocks and heifers are ranging from €1.75 to €2.20/kg. Plain-types showed a slight reduction with fewer customers.”

Bullocks 600kgs – €1.70-€2.40/kg or €1,120-€1,830/head:
