There was a “super” trade for in-calf heifers at Headford Mart on Saturday (November 14th), according to a spokesperson.
They reported that a top call of €2,000 was forked out for a five-star Simmental due in early January to a pedigree Limousin bull.
- Bullocks ranged from €1.49 to €2.57 per kg or €252 to €800 over the kg. Top price over the kg a CHX – 570kg – €1370 – €2.40/kg and top price per kg pair – a LMX – 460kg – €1180 – €2.57/kg.
- Store heifers made from €1.57 to €2.51 per kg or €265 to €680 over the kg. Top price over kg and per kg – a LMX – 450kg – €1130 – €2.51/kg.
- Weanling heifers ranged from €1.63 to €2.93 per kg or €135 to €580 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a BBX – 330kg – €910 – €2.76/kg. Top price per kg – a CHX – 225kg – €660 – €2.93/kg.
- Weanling bulls ranged from €1.79 to €3.13 per kg or €225 to €700 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a LMX – 340kg – €1040 – €3.06/kg. Top price per kg – a LMX – 230kg – €720 – €3.13/kg.
- Cull cows went under the hammer from €500 to €1490 for a 4-year-old CHX, 770kg.
- Sucklers made from €1010 up to €2,000 for a May-2018-boen SI due early January to a pedigree Limousin bull. The average price for sucklers was €1,890.
- Sheep: Lambs traded from €83 to €120, while ewes peaked at €71.
