Quality-assured lambs are ranging from €5.25-€5.40/kg this week, according to reports.
Producer groups are receiving more, in the region of 5-10c/kg, with most plants paying up to 22kgs.
Ewes remained unchanged with quotes now hovering around €2.60-€2.80/kg, as seen in recent weeks.
Throughput
The national sheep kill stood at 62,401 head during the week commencing October 5th, according to the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine’s database.

The inclusion of last week’s throughput brings the cumulative sheep kill for the year-to-date to 2,245,881 head – an increase of 116,385 on the corresponding period in 2019.
According to the database, 37,220 more lambs/hoggets have been slaughtered this year, while the spring lamb kill is up by 94,772 head.
15,099 fewer ewes and lambs have been killed so far this year, while the number of light lambs processed in DAFM-approved sheep plants has fallen by 508 head.
