Reports of bogus dog warden calling to houses

A county council has received reports of an individual calling to houses claiming to be its dog warden.

A spokesperson for Sligo County Council said the person is seeking to check on dog licences.

In a brief statement, yesterday (Wednesday, October 14th), the spokesperson said: “Due to Covid restrictions, Sligo County Council’s dog warden is not currently calling to houses.”

“Any council employee calling to a house will have identification, always ask for it.”

“If you are aware of any suspicious activity in this regard, please contact the Gardaí.” the spokesperson concluded.
