Gerry Connellan, manager of Elphin Co-operative Livestock Mart LTD, is set to retire from his position.
The renowned Gaelic footballer secured the role in the Roscommon-based mart over two decades ago.
The mart, one of the most popular in the country, plays host to weekly cattle and sheep sales.
Dry cows, sucklers and weanlings are sold on Mondays at 6pm, while sheep are sold on the same day at 7:30pm. A sale of bullocks and heifers takes place (except for June, July, and early August).
Applications are currently being invited for the position of mart manager. It is not known when Connellan will step down from his position.
