Gardaí issued a court summons to a lorry driver transporting straw using an extended flatbed trailer over the weekend.
The lorry and extended flatbed trailer exceeded the maximum legal length, according to Gardaí.
An Garda Síochána highlighted the discovery on Twitter yesterday (Monday, January 18th).

The tweet reads as follows: “Carlow Gardaí stopped this lorry heading for Galway carrying a load of straw on an extended flatbed trailer.”
“The whole rig measured over 23 metres. This well extended the legal limit. Lorry left parked up until load is rectified. Court summons to follow.”

Jeep and trailer seizes
Meanwhile, last month, Gardaí in Monaghan stopped a 4X4 towing a trailer with silage bales.
Gardaí received a report from a “concerned” member of the public.
Cavan Monaghan Garda Division highlighted the incident on social media on December 6th, 2020.
“This jeep and trailer were stopped tonight by the Gardai in Monaghan after receiving a report from a concerned member of the public.”
“It was travelling from the Ballybay direction towards Monaghan with no lights on either the rear of the jeep or the trailer and the brake lights were also non-existent not to mention the unsecured load – vehicle and trailer seized for PSV examination.”
“With the weather conditions that are out there tonight, dense fog and heavy frost. This was an extremely careless act.”
“We would like to advise motorists if you are out and about to please drive to the conditions and StaySafe. Please make sure not to take chances.”
