Two males have been arrested following a fire at a barn in Lewes, Sussex.
Six horses were killed in the blaze which broke out in East Sussex, according to police.
In a statement regarding the barn fire in Sussex, a spokesperson, said:
“Police were called shortly before 6am on Saturday (January 16) to reports of a fire at a barn in the Rodmell area of Lewes. No persons were injured, but six horses tragically died in the fire.”
“The fire is being treated as suspicious and two men, aged 40 and 24, have been arrested on suspicion of arson. They have both been released on conditional bail until February 13 while enquiries continue.”

Fire at grain store
Meanwhile, a fire broke out at R&H Hall grain store in Co. Cork earlier this morning.
A blaze broke out at the Ringaskiddy Deepwater Berth on Saturday, January 9th). The alarm was raised shortly after 8am.
Multiple units from Cork County Fire Brigade and units from the National Ambulance Service attended the scene of the incident.
In a statement on Twitter, shortly after 9:30am, a spokesperson for Pork of Cork said: “A fire has broken out at the R&H Hall grain store on the Ringaskiddy Deepwater Berth.”
“Emergency Services are on-site and the Port Emergency Plan has been activated. Local residents are advised to keep all doors and windows closed and remain indoors.”
In an updated statement shortly before 11am, the spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a fire which broke out at a grain storage facility on the Ringaskiddy Deepwater Berth is now under control & there are no reports of any casualties.”
