50 sheep were killed in a horrific dog attack in Wales over the weekend.
The livestock worrying incident occurred in North Monmouthshire on Saturday, January 16th.
Sheep killed in Wales
Gwent Police’s Rural Crime Team has confirmed that it is investigating the incident.
In a tweet, a spokesperson for the force, said: “We are investigating the death of 50 ewes in North Monmouthshire, following a livestock worrying incident where the sheep were forced into the corner of a field and died there. This is taken seriously by all #ruralcrimeteams. Report all livestock attacks on 101.”

In other news, police in Cheshire are appealing for information after sheep were killed earlier this month.
They are conducting a full investigation to establish circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a post on social media on January 8th, 2021, PC Moss of Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team said:
“Today, PCSO Smith & myself, have attended a triple sheep killing in Marton, Salterswall, Winsford district.”
“This attack occurred overnight from around 9pm yesterday (7th) & 8:30am today(8th). One sheep & two lambs, killed near the farmhouse with the rest of the flock unharmed.”
“There are some extremely unusual elements in the case & a thorough Investigation is currently underway to establish the full circumstances & to identify the offender/s.
“If you saw anything suspicious in the Marton area: any persons or vehicles: particularly along Dalefords Lane or Cinder Hill then please get in contact ASAP via 101 & quote IML-890541.” PC Moss concluded.
Highland cow mauled to death by Rottweiler
Meanwhile, a Highland cow has been mauled to death by a dog.
The four-year-old Highland was due to calve on January 28th, according to her owners, BCS Highland Cattle.
An out-of-control dog mauled the animal to death on Saturday, January 9th, 2021. The incident occurred on farmland in Quaker Bridge, near Brierfield in Lancashire.
The Rottweiler “ripped half of her tongue out and half of her face”, according to the family.
In a post on Facebook on the morning of the incident, the family said:
“We are sorry to announce that our beloved Lexi was killed this morning by a dog. Lexi was due to give birth to her first calf on the 28th January 2021.”
“We, as a family, are devastated. The dog that killed Lexi has been destroyed on-site Please can we send out to all dog owners. Please make sure you know where your animals are at all times.”
