Before-and-after photos: Zetor 6945 restored

Matthew Goose, an agricultural contractor from Carndonagh, Co. Donegal, recently restored a 40-year-old Zetor 6945 4wd tractor for a family member, writes Catherina Cunnane.

He explained to this publication that the restoration project took slightly longer than expected, although all work was completed over a 16-week period.

“We weren’t working on the tractor full-time due to other farm work. We also had to spend time finding the proper materials and parts to complete the restoration.”

“The things that were mostly done to the tractor was panel work and bodywork. We never touched any mechanical side of things – we just completed some welding, grinding, sanding and respraying.”

40 years of work

New panels and lights were fitted along with new tyres and rims. “It was a satisfying job once it was back together compared to what we started with.”

“This tractor was bought new back in 1979 by the great uncle.” said the Donegal native, who explained that the tractor has spent many years, operating throughout the country.

“The tractor is back to its showroom conditions after 40 years of hard work.” Goose concluded.
