3-month-old sheepdog pup sells for record-breaking £10,600

An April 8th, 2021-born sheepdog pup, set what is understood to be a new world record price when she changed hands for £10,600 plus 5% buyer’s premium earlier this week.

Newbold Caz topped Farmers Marts’ timed internet auction of working sheepdogs this week, which saw 156 lots go under the hammer.

Newbold Caz by K Evans, Brecon is the daughter of Simon Cottrell’s Jewel (full sister of K Evans’ Red Spot) and K Evans’ Red Jaff.

A spokesperson said:

“The red and tan pup already showed great potential, as was clearly shown in the video on the catalogue. Newbold Caz will soon arrive at her new home with the Delves Family, Montgomeryshire.”

According to the spokesperson, other pups sold “incredibly well”. 18-week-old Kemi Jack, also by K Evans, Brecon, found a new owner for £5,300.

The timed internet auction opened to bidding on Monday, July 5th and closed from 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 7th.

According to the mart spokesperson, the sale achieved an average of £2,700, with the trained section averaging £4,135.

Ruby by E Vaughan, Staffordshire took home £5,250 for a red and white 10-week-old pup by the world record-breaking Kim by D Jenkins, which sold for £27,100 earlier this year.

“Bidding was strong and plentiful on well-trained entries and for those showing greatest potential.”

Well-trained dogs

In the trained section, A Games, Crickhowell, Powys with Ellan Valley Bob received the second-highest sale price with Ellan Valley Bob, which sold for£10,200.

J Sutherland, Durness, bought the nursery trial winner and son of Derwen Doug.

N Redman, Torfaen achieved the joint third-highest price of the sale of£9,600 for Lyn.

An undisclosed buyer from South Wales bought the 14-month-old bitch.

D Jenkins, Ceredigion achieved the joint third-highest price of £9,600 for his 12-month-old eye-catching dog, Tynygraig Mirk, bought by LWhite, Bamford, Hope Valley.

Great prices achieved by K Evans, Brecon in the trained section include Kemi Bill, an excellent nursery prospect, which sold for £9,100 and will be heading to Norway soon. Bella sold to a buyer from Sweden for £8,000. K Evans also achieved £6,300 for Fly.

S Jones, Corwen secured £6,400 for his trained bitch, Bodtegir Sian.

L Harries, Pembrokeshire, led the partly trained section with his 14-month-old bitch, Bluestone Sal, at £4,500, closely followed by Moss by J Griffith, Gwynedd which found a new owner at £4,350.
