Weather: Time to catch up on indoor jobs?

Today will be cool, windy and showery with strong, very gusty southwest winds and gales in western and northern coastal areas, according to Met Éireann. Heavy showers or longer spells of rain will extend to all areas this morning and continue for the rest of the day. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees.

The night will remain windy with spells of showery rain. There will be further heavy showers of rain or hail, some of them thundery with fresh to strong, gusty southwest winds and gales near northwest coasts. Temperatures falling to between 7 and 9 degrees.

Saturday

Saturday will also be a blustery or windy day. The national forecaster predicts that the day will be cloudy over the northern half of the country with spells of showery rain but brighter further south with sunshine and showers. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees with fresh, gusty westerly winds, which will be strong to gale force in the northwest.

Outbreaks of rain will continue into the night in Ulster and North Connacht but will eventually clear by morning. The rest of the country will be mainly dry with a lot of cloud and some clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees with fresh, gusty westerly winds, gradually moderating.

Sunday

The national meteorologists anticipate that Sunday will be dry in most parts with sunny spells, apart from a few showers in the north and northwest. Highest temperatures ranging from 15 degrees in the west to 20 degrees in the east with moderate southwest breezes.

Monday

Monday morning will be dry in most areas with sunny spells, according to the current forecast. Rain and drizzle will develop in the west by noon and move slowly eastwards as the day progresses. The rainfall amounts will be small, however. Highest temperatures of 14 degrees in the west to 20 degrees in the east with moderate southerly breezes.

Tuesday

Met Éireann expect a fair amount of cloud and patchy rain on Tuesday, but some decent dry spells and sunny intervals too. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees with light, variable breezes.
