Cloud will increase from the south-west as the day progresses before a band of rain extends over Munster through the evening.

Temperatures will reach between 10 to 14 degrees in light variable breezes during the day with night-time lows of 2 to 6 degrees.

Rain in the south will extend across the country, heavy at times. As a result, the national forecaster has warned of a risk of spot flooding, particularly along the south coast.

Saturday, May 8th, 2021:

Rain in the north and east will gradually clear north-eastwards through the morning with sunny spells and scattered showers to follow from the south-west.

Meanwhile, it will remain breezy on Saturday night, with scattered showers to impact mainly southern and western counties. However, according to the national forecaster, it will be dry elsewhere with lows of 7 to 11 degrees, coolest over Ulster.

Sunday, May 9th, 2021:

It will be blustery on Sunday, with widespread showers to turn heavy at times, particularly over the west. The national forecaster has warned of a risk of hail with highs of 13 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Sunday night will see light and scattered showers, coupled with some clear spells and lows of 7 to 10 degrees.

Next week:

Looking ahead to next week, Met Éireann predicts that Monday will see the return of widespread, heavy showers, some of hail.

These will continue through the day, evening and into the next morning, with a risk of isolated thunderstorms, especially over the country’s western half.
