VIDEO: Want to name this horse?

The Garda Mounted Unit has taken ownership of a new horse and has asked followers on their social media pages to help name him.

The 8-year-old Irish Draught gelding has been taken on-board after completing his 6-week training.

A garda spokesperson described the horse as intelligent, inquisitive, a quick learner and also mischievous, “in a good sense.”

The criteria for naming the horse is that the name must also belong to an Irish mythological character. Names of other horses in the unit include: Setanta, Ború, Lear and Cú.

In a recent social media post, the Gardaí requested the following: “We have a beautiful new horse that has joined the Garda Mounted Unit and we want you to help name him.”

“Get your thinking caps on and leave your suggestions in the comments section below. A winner will be announced next Monday 27th April at Midday. Please share.”
