VIDEO: Taking over the farm at 18, doubling cow numbers and building a new parlour

“When you have good grass, you’ll have happy cows,” that is the view of young dairy farmer, Aaron Holden, Co. Kilkenny.

He took the reins of the family farm at the tender age of eighteen, following his father’s passing.

He has doubled the herd size to 120 cows, and built a new 16-unit Swiftflo swing parlour in 2015.

The Kildaton College graduate lives on the farm, which consists of 160-acres (130-acres owned, and 30-acres leased) with his mother, two sisters and girlfriend.

In this video, he provides an insight into his thriving enterprise and explains why he chose Dairymaster.
