VIDEO: Protecting your machinery from theft

Following a recent spate of agricultural and plant machinery theft, a spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Road Safety and Policing team has issued a statement.

“Nothing is too big to steal,” was the message sent out by the spokesperson.

They reported that millions of pounds of plant machinery is stolen each year and it is the owners responsibility to keep them safe.

“Mark your property and make a record of it. Keep it secure, consider the use of an embedded tracking device. Make a note of Serial numbers, VIN No’s, Engine Numbers, take photographs of these and keep them safe and secure.”

“These numbers can be passed to Police in the event of thefts and helps us record the details more accurately and reunite the Machinery with the owner should it be located.”

The above video explains further how to keep your machinery safe from potential theft.
