Martin Treacy milks 192 dairy cows with assistance from his wife, daughters and one employee in Co. Kilkenny.
The family-run farm was looking to upgrade their existing parlour, so they installed a Dairymaster Swiftflo 16-unit double-up with fast exit and in-parlour feeding.
They also installed feed to yield, drafting and MooMonitor+ health & fertility monitoring.
They made the investment with a view to increasing herd size and the need to reduce time and labour, with milking now taking 95 minutes in the morning and 80 minutes in the evening.
Martin began farming with his father twenty years ago, at a time when the farm was home to 110 cows and a double milking parlour, with further expansion plans in the pipeline.
