Rebecca and Hayley Turner run a dairy farm in Makarau, New Zealand, with their father Graham.
Having previously worked off-farm while their father milked the cows, the installation of a robotic milking system made them want to quit their jobs and return home to the farm.
“We would have never gone into dairy farming if it wasn’t for the automatic milking system,” Rebecca said.
Not only has the new system changed their lives on the farm, it has made life better for the cows as well.
“The system of detecting mastitis, lameness or anything like that is quicker so that you are on top of it much faster. It tells us about any abnormality, even before we can see it. Our cows are very happy in this system and that makes us happy.”
