A top call of £5,000 (approximately €5,520) was recorded for a cow-heifer and calf pairing at a beef breeding sale held at Caledonian Marts Ltd over the weekend.
The sale attracted over 230 lots, which included heifer calves with future breeding potential and a special reduction sale.
The sale-topper came in the form of a Limousin cow-heifer with a Limousin calf at foot.
Other notable prices
Cows and calves averaged £1560 including the reduction with cows and calves selling to £2600 for a 7-year-old British Blue with a Limousin calf at foot.
In-calf heifers averaged £1487 including the reduction and sold to £2,800 for a British Blue scanned in-calf.
In-calf cows averaged £1287 including the reduction and sold to £1700, again for a Limousin.
Heifer calves with future breeding potential averaged £702 selling to £870 for a pen of Shorthorns.
