A vet stumbled across a memorial stone, dating back to an outbreak of the cattle plague, Rinderpest, in 1866, last week.
The discovery was made by a member of Nantwich Farm Vets.
In a post on social media, the UK-based practice said: “A reminder of another crisis caused by a viral disease, now thankfully globally eradicated, thanks to scientists and communities working together.”
“All storms pass, what will be remembered is how we responded at the time.”
