VIDEO: Tullow Mart steps up to Jerusalema Challenge

Staff members at Tullow Mart have stepped up to the Jerusalema Challenge, which has taken the world by storm, particularly in recent weeks.

The Carlow-based venue is following hot on the heels of Carnew Mart, Co. Wicklow. Over the course of the weekend, staff members took to the rostrum, in the sales yard, office, carpark and ringside to dance to the beat of the hit South African house track, as reported by us.

That’s Farming understands that the Wicklow-based mart was the first livestock mart in Ireland to participate in the challenge.

Meanwhile, others in the agricultural circle including, Kiernan Milling, one of Ireland’s largest milling companies, has also completed the now-viral dance.

Gardaí

Various organisations and individuals across the island have been following in Gardaí’s footsteps by stepping up the challenge.

Earlier this month, members of An Garda Síochána responded to the challenge laid down by Swiss police to “give the public we serve a lift in these challenging times”.

Swiss police claimed that their Irish counterparts would never be able to top the “precision, discipline and perfectionism” on show.

In a tweet, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “We have stepped up to the Swiss police @fedpolCH #JerusalemaChallenge. Gardaí across Ireland answered the call to give the public we serve a lift in these challenging times. #StayTogether #homeStaySafe.”

The global challenge began in February 2020 after a group of friends, Fenómenos do Semba, in Angola shot a video of themselves dancing to the track. The gospel-influenced house song is by South African producer, Master KG, and performed by singer-songwriter, Nomcebo.
