Cull cows to €2,270 and heifers to €1,900 in ‘lively’ trade at Tuam

Tuam Mart – Cattle Prices – 30-05-2022

According to Marion Devane, a “lively trade all-around” prevailed at Tuam Mart on Monday, May 30th, 2022 (30-05-2022).

The mart manager reported that cull cows reached €2,270, while heifers fetched up to €1,900 and bullocks made up to €1,840.

Tuam Mart 30-05-2022:

Heifer prices:

  • 280 kg AAX by a Cummer farmer made €700 (€2.50/kg);
  • 610 kg CHX by a Turloughmore farmer made €1900 (€3.11/kg);
  • 540 kg LMX by a Clarinbridge farmer made €1580 (€2.93/kg);
  • 345 kg LMX by a Kilmaine farmer made €1120 (€3.25/kg);
  • 385 kg CHX by a Barnaderg farmer made €1200(€3.12/kg);
  • 400 kg LMX by a Cummer farmer made €1470 (€3.68/kg).

Cull cow prices:

  • 780 kg LMX by a Belclare farmer made €2270 (€2.91/kg);
  • 825 kg CHX by a Belclare farmer made €2250 (€2.73/kg);
  • 725 kg LMX by a Lavally farmer made €2140 (€2.95/kg);
  • 625 kg CHX by a Milltown farmer made €1740 (€2.78/kg);
  • 610 kg LMX by a Barnaderg farmer made €1660 (€2.72/kg);
  • 710 kg BBX by a Tuam farmer made €2080 (€2.93/kg).

Bullock prices:

  • 560 kg LMX by a Williamstown farmer made €1700(€3.04/kg);
  • 695 kg BBX by a Tuam farmer made €1840 (€2.65/kg);
  • 590 kg CHX by a Barnaderg farmer made €1640 (€2.78/kg);
  • 465 kg CHX by a Moylough farmer made €1380 (€2.97/kg);
  • 410 kg CHX by a Ballyhaunis farmer made €1220 (€2.98/kg);
  • 325 kg LMX by a Dunmore farmer made €970 (€2.98/kg).

Purchasers paid what Marion Devane described as “table-topping cattle prices” at Tuam Mart’s most recent sale on Monday, May 23rd, 2022.

The manager of the Galway based mart noted that a short supply of cattle led to “soaring” prices, with cull cows to €2,430, heifers to €2,150 and bullocks to €1,910.
