Heifers to €2,500 & cull cows to €2,400 in ‘strong’ trade in Tuam

Tuam Mart – Cattle Prices – 22-05-2023

According to Marion Devane, a “strong” trade prevailed at Tuam Mart on Monday, May 22nd, 2023, writes farming journalist, Catherina Cunnane.

The mart manager reported that cull cows topped out at €2,400, while heifers peaked at €2,500, and bullocks sold for up to €1,960.

Cull cow prices:

  • 705kg BBX by a Belclare farmer made €1760 (€2.50/kg);
  • 735kg AAX by a Moylough farmer made €2080 (€2.83/kg);
  • 850kg CHX by a Dunmore farmer made €2400 (€2.82/kg);
  • 620kg LM by a Tuam farmer made €1820 (€2.94/kg);
  • 785kg CHX by a Tuam farmer made €2140 (€2.73/kg);
  • 830kg LMX by a Barnaderg farmer made €2380 (€2.87/kg).

Bullock prices:

  • 340kg LMX by a Dunmore farmer made €1240 (€3.65/kg);
  • 310kg AAX by a Dunmore farmer made €970 (€3.13/kg);
  • 570kg LMX by a Tuam farmer made €1890 (€3.32/kg);
  • 475kg AUX by a Tuam farmer made €1180 (€2.48/kg);
  • 290kg HEX by a Moylough farmer made €920 (€3.17/kg);

The mart manager reported that cull cows peaked at €2,380, while heifers maxed out at €1,560, bullocks topped at €2,510 and weanling bulls made up to €1,460.

  • 830 kg LMX by a Dunmore farmer made €2380 (€2.87/kg);
  • 630 kg LMX by a Moylough farmer made €1700 (€2.70/kg);
