‘Premium’ prices of up to €1,320 for weanlings at Tuam

Tuam Mart report – cattle prices – 13-09-2021

According to Marion Devane, a “lively” trade prevailed at Tuam Mart’s general cattle sale and Limousin weanling show and sale on Monday, September 13th, 2021.

The mart manager reported that the cow trade was “on fire” with prices making up to €2.19/kg.

Cull cow prices: 
  • LMX cow by a Dunmore farmer – €1500 (€2.04/kg);
  • 620 kg LMX cow by an Athenry farmer – €1360 (€2.19/kg);
  • 685 kg AAX cow by a Tuam farmer – €1390 (€2.03/kg);
  • 740 LMX cow by a Ballinasloe farmer – €1560.
Heifer prices:
  • 395 kg CHX by a Tuam farmer – €1060 (€2.68/kg);
  • 380 kg LMX by a Dunmore farmer – €1090 (€2.87/kg);
  • 465 kg CHX – €1220 (€2.62/kg);
  • 445 kg LMX – €1200 (€2.70/kg);
  • 535 kg CHX by a Ballinasloe farmer – €1320 (€2.47/kg);
  • 560 kg LMX by a Tuam farmer – €1410 (€2.52/kg);
  • AAX weighing 620 kg by a Cummer farmer – €1480 (€2.39/kg);

  • 750 kg CHX by a Tuam farmer – €1900 (€2.53/kg);
  • 735 kg SIX – €1870 (€2.54/kg);
  • 695 kg LMX – €1870 (€2.69/kg).
Weanling prices

Devane commented: “Farmers presented outstanding stock for our Limousin weanling sale with premium prices paid.”

Congratulations to Tommy Greaney of Corofin on winning the best weanling heifer category sponsored by St. Jarlath’s Credit Union Tuam and to Michael Boyle of Tygreenan Barnaderg on winning the best weanling bull category sponsored by Corrib Oil.”

Weanling heifer prices:
  • 340 kg LMX by  Tuam farmer made €980 (€2.88/kg);
  • 260 kg LMX by a Dunmore farmer made €790 (€3.04/kg);
  • 280 kg LMX by a Ballyglunin farmer made €820 (€2.93/kg);
  • 320 kg LMX by a Cummer farmer made €930 (€2.91/kg);
  • 465 kg LMX by a Williamstown farmer made €1360 (€2.92/kg)l
  • 1st-prize-winning heifer – 415 kg – €1320 (€3.18/kg).
Weanling bull prices:
  • 245 kg LMX by a Tuam farmer climbed to €890 (€3.63/kg);
  • 290 kg LMX by a Tuam farmer fetched €890 (€3.07/kg);
  • 310 kg LMX by a Dunmore farmer sold for €1100 (€3.55/kg);
  • 370 kg by a Claremorris farmer made €1080 (€2.92/kg);
  • 1st-prize-winning bull 435 kg €1260 (€2.90/kg);
  • 465 kg LMX by a Cummer farmer made €1300 (€2.80/kg).
