Police stopped a tractor and trailer in North Dorset for not displaying a numberplate yesterday (Saturday, January 2nd).
Officers on patrol made a further discovery after they brought the tractor and trailer combination to a halt.

They discovered a number of people travelling in the trailer.
In a post on social media, a spokesperson for North Dorset Police said:
“This tractor & trailer were stopped today on a road near to FontwellMagna, not your everyday transport & with no registration plate they were duly advised to return back to farm & seek other transport.”

Meanwhile, across the waters in Co. Monaghan, Gardaí seized a 4X4 towing a trailer with silage bales in December.
Gardaí received a report from a “concerned” member of the public.
Cavan Monaghan Garda Division highlighted the incident on social media on December 6th, 2020.

The jeep was travelling from the Ballybay direction towards Monaghan with no lights on either the rear of the jeep or the trailer. Secondly, the brake lights were also non-existent and the driver was transporting an unsecured load.
“With the weather conditions that are out there tonight, dense fog and heavy frost. This was an extremely careless act.”
“We would like to advise motorists if you are out and about to please drive to the conditions and StaySafe. Please make sure not to take chances.”

Furthermore, Gardaí in Cavan seized a jeep and trailer in recent weeks.
Gardaí attached to the Bailieboro Division stopped the driver of the 4X4 on Monday, November 30th.
In a post on social media, a Garda spokesperson said:
“Yesterday, more uninsured drivers were detected on our roads. The Gardai from Bailieboro stopped this jeep towing a trailer been driven by a learner permit holder with no L plates displayed and no insurance – the owner who was a passenger was himself disqualified- jeep seized. Court to follow.”
