Ballinrobe: Lighter bullocks up 74/KG on June 2022 – Gibsey

Aurivo Ballinrobe Mart – Cattle Prices – 14-06-2023

A smaller entry of cattle did not deter trade from maintaining on the previous week at Aurivo Ballinrobe Mart, Co Mayo on Wednesday, Thursday, 13th, 2023.

Bullocks topped out at €1,560, while heifers maxed out at €1,650 and cull cows pushed up to €2,200.

Bullock prices

According to Teresa Gibsey, bullock prices ranged from €860 to €1,560 per head or €2.34 to €3.86 per kg.

The average for bullocks 400 to 500kg plus was €2.93/kg, a 32-cent increase on June 2022 prices, according to the mart’s assistant manager.

Lighter bullocks 300 to 400 kgs stood an average of €3.51/kg, which is what Gibsey reported to be a 74-cent rise on the mart’s June 2022 price table.

  • LM – 465KG – €1,560 – €3.35/KG;
  • BAX – 320KG – €1,170 – €3.66/KG;
  • LMX – 305KG – €1,110 – €3.64/KG;
  • LMX – 285KG – €1,100 – €3.86/KG;
  • LMX – 290KG – €1,090 – €3.76/KG;
  • CHX – 680kgs – €2,010 – €2.96/KG.
  • CHX – 615kgs – €1,800 – €2.93/KG;
  • CHX – 670kgs – €2,000 – €2.99/KG;
  • CHX – 655kgs – €2,000 – €3.05/kg.

Dry cow prices

A “nice” selection of dry cows turned out for the general sale with an average of €1425 per head.

Prices in this ring ranged from €910 to €2,200 with the best price going to CH, born in 2012 and weighing 820kgs.

  • FRX – 655KGS – €1,460 – €2.23/KG;
  • SIX – 590KGS – €1,350 – €2.29/KG;
  • LMX – 690KGS – €1,690 – €2.43/KG;
  • CHX – 815KGS – €2,050 – €2.52/KG;
  • HEX – 825KGS – €2,000 – €2.42/KG.

Heifer prices

Heifer were sold directly after cows this week with prices varying from €590 to €1,650 per head or €2.46 to €3.56 per kg.

The average for heifers 500kg plus was €2.82/kg and entries in the 400 to 500kg weight bracket levelled at €2.93/kg, a 24-cent increase on June 2022 prices.
