Last week’s beef kill stood at 35,641 cattle, according to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s database.

- Heifers: 11,542.
133,441 cattle have been processed in DAFM-approved beef plants this year (excluded this week’s kill), in comparison to 138,337 during the corresponding period last year.
Beef factory quotes
Factories are paying a base of €3.65/kg for steers, while a base price of €3.70/kg is being quoted for heifers.
Cows are ranging from €2.90-€3.40/kg this week, while beef plants are reportedly quoting between €3.40-€3.60/kg for young bulls.
There is “very strong factory demand for in-spec cattle and cows”, with some plants paying 5-10c/kg above quotes”.
