Status yellow thunder warning for entire country

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow thunder warning for the entire island of Ireland.

The alert is valid from 4pm tomorrow (Thursday, June 25th) and will remain in place until 9am on Friday (June 26th).

“Heavy thunderstorms are expected to develop later on Thursday and Thursday night with some severe downpours, hail and spot flooding.”

“Due to the localised nature of thunderstorms, some parts of the country will remain dry.” the national forecaster explained.

Northern Ireland

Meanwhile, a status yellow thunderstorm warning will come into effect in Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry at 4pm tomorrow.

“Whilst many places will be dry or see little rain, thunderstorms may cause flooding and disruption in a few places.” the UK Met Office warned.
