Spotlight on Ould Lammas Fair

This week, Beidh Aonach Amárach visits Ould Lammas Fair in Ballycastle. They’ve come from far and wide to peddle their wares at one of the oldest festivals in Ireland.

Donal Sweeney with his knitwear from Ardara and Tomás Póil with his fudge from Inis Oírr battle it out to see who will clock up the most sales from the 100,000 strong crowd.

The horse-trading origins of the Lammas are in full view as farrier brothers, Paul and Joe Traynor, crank up the heat at their forge.

David Moore has escaped from the kitchen to dole out his precious “yellowman”. There’s music too with the McKinney family and Mary and Ciarán O’Driscoll as this coastal town community enjoys all the fun of the fair.

Tune into TG4 at 8pm tonight (Thursday, February 20th).
