Some basic stretches to loosen up for winter

If you are a farmer that is noticing more aches and pains after a long day’s work, then a few of these stretches may be ideal for you, to loosen up.

These can be done in a few minutes and can really improve your muscle health and build overall flexibility. It is important when stretching to avoid any jerk movements and avoid any discomfort.

Neck

While keeping your back straight do the following. Gently tilt your neck to the side while stretching out your opposite arm. Hold this position for around 30 seconds. Gently let your head go back to its original position and repeat it on the opposite side.

Chest stretch

While standing hold both hands behind your back and gently push them down towards the ground, you should feel a good stretch in your chest. Hold this position for about 30 seconds and release gently.

Back stretch

While standing gently twist to the left and the twist to the right. It is very important to do this gently and to avoid jerking the back. Swing back and forth gently for around 20 seconds just to get loose.

These 3 simple exercises can increase blood flow and help you wake up in the mornings. Give them a go next time you are waiting for the kettle to boil and see if you can feel the benefits yourself.
