At the time of writing, there have been 906 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland, with 4-related deaths.
This comes from a rise of 121 people in just 24 hours being diagnosed with the virus.
2-metre rule
The various health organisations across the world have recommended a distance of 2 metres between people to help stop the spread of Covid-19.
How far is 2-metres?
To be able to gauge the distance yourself in everyday situations that you may face, the department of health has issued a video of some examples.
In the video, a department spokesperson has said two-metres is a similar size to the following:
- 200 centimetres or 6 feet, seven inches;
- The length of a double bed;
- The arm span of an average adult;
- Twice the arm span of an average child.
The video concludes with the following message; “Stop the spread of Covid-19, it’s in your hands!”
