Met Éireann warn of snow showers

Met Éireann has warned of snow and sleet showers as temperatures are set to drop below 0 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

According to the national forecaster, it will be dry with sunshine in Munster and south Leinster. Temperatures will range from 6 to 9 degrees.

Meanwhile, mist and fog will return to parts of the south tonight, with many places remaining dry.

Thicker cloud bringing rain will arrive in the north-west before extending to the east and south later in the night. Temperatures will fall below 0 degrees, hitting -2 to +2 degrees.

Wednesday, November 24th

According to Met Éireann, rain will extend south and east to the remaining areas tomorrow morning.

Showers will turn heavy at times across west Munster and clear from the north-west with showers and sunny spells for the rest of the day.

The national forecaster warned that showers will be the heaviest and most frequent in the north-west. In its forecast, it confirmed that isolated hail shows will be possible.

Wednesday night will see long, dry and clear spells, with some scattered showers and lows of 0 to +3 degrees.

Thursday, November 25th:

According to Met Éireann, it will be cold on Thursday with some scattered showers and sunshine. Temperatures will reach between 5 to 8 degrees.

Meanwhile, it will become windy overnight with fresh to strong, westerly winds to develop.

It will be cloudy at first, with rain to extend from the north-west to all areas overnight. Temperatures will fall to -1 to +3 degrees.

Friday, November 26th:

According to the national forecaster, it will be cold with some showers, possibly turning to sleet in the evening. Despite this, temperatures will remain in the region of 7 to 9 degrees, with “an added wind chill factor”.

It will remain windy, with sleet and snow showers “likely” over the north and west and lows of 0 to +4 degrees.

Weekend

Looking ahead to the weekend, further scattered showers are in store, with some sleet or snow showers possible over high ground in the night.

Temperatures will hit 5 to 7 degrees during the day with overnight values of “near freezing or slightly below”.
