Six-week holiday break for politicians

The Dáil is set to resume in mid-September, when politicians return from summer recess, following a vote.

It adjourned into the early hours of this morning (Friday, July 31st), with members scheduled to return on Tuesday, September 15th.

A heated debate arose over plans to change party speaking time rules last night (Thursday, July 30th).

Politicians will not return for an emergency debate on the Pandemic Unemployment Payment next week.

The cabinet is due to meet next week to discuss phase four of the government’s roadmap for re-opening society and business.

It has been reported that some Dáil committees could return to business in early September.
