Sheep trade improves at Baltinglass

A smaller entry of sheep met with an improved trade and a full clearance at Baltinglass Mart on Saturday, February 15th, according to Tom Coleman.

He explained that heavy lambs peaked at €129, while 45-50kg entries ranged from €107-€121 and stores climbed from €45-€100. Cast ewes went under the hammer from €85- €118.

“Ewes with lambs at foot are starting to come out and they made from €160 up to €220 for a family.”

“Ewes scanned in-lamb were also in demand and they went under the hammer from €150 – €180.” Coleman added.
