Data from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has shown a fall in sheep throughput in week 16 of 2020 from the number slaughtered at the same stage last year.
A sharp decline of 13,897 has been recorded, falling from 53,548 down to 39,651.
Last week’s throughput:
- Lambs/hoggets: 30,415;
- Spring lambs: 4,797;
- Ewes and rams: 4,439;
- Light lambs: 0;
- Total: 39,651.

- Lambs/hoggets: 678,861;

- Light lambs: 18;

Prices:
The most recent prices paid for hoggets range between €6.00/kg and €6.20/kg, with some making up to €6.30/kg.
Between €6.30-€6.60/kg is being quoted for spring lamb with tops of €6.70/kg being paid.
Cull ewes are ranging from €2.60-€2.70/kg, with some reaching up to €2.80.
