The Irish Texel Sheep Society value the custom of commercial farmers over the years, so much so, it has invested heavily to ensure buyers will have a safe environment to view and purchase sheep at its upcoming premier sale.
Speaking to That’s Farming, ahead of its sale, which will take place at Blessington Mart on Friday (August 14th) and Saturday (August 15th), a society spokesperson said: “We have brought the biggest selection of Texel rams in the history of the society for the premier sale this year.”
“This is to ensure that all loyal and new commercial farmers will be able to find something to suit the needs of the farmer and the budget. The majority of these will be star-rated.”
“We have been planning this sale since March to ensure the safety of purchasers and sellers. We believe that we have come up with a very exciting sale for 2020 in the current circumstances.”
The society will have viewing times for farmers to view the sheep on offer. All entries will be ready for viewing on Friday (August 14th) at 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and viewing from 8:00 am on Saturday (August 15th).
The sale will begin with females at 10:00 am sharp followed by shearling rams at approximately 12 noon and ram lambs thereafter.
“It is clear to see from this year’s catalogue, that our breeders have invested heavily in top-performing genetics to perform for the Irish farmer.”
