Gardaí have launched an investigation after a professional huntsman was killed by a stag in recent days.

The incident, involving the male aged in his 40s, occurred at Dunhallow Hunt kennels in north Cork on Tuesday, December 29th.

It is understood the male went to feed the pet stag and was attacked by the animal.

His wife raised the alarm after he did not return home. The father-of-three was found lying unresponsive on the ground at the yard.

In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said: “Gardai attended the scene of a workplace accident in Liscarroll, Co Cork on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.”
